How and When I am Compensated at BusyCreativeLiving.com
I founded The Busy Creative (BusyCreativeLiving.com) and became a for-profit business.
In order to keep all the content of my blog free but still be able to pay all the costs associated with running a business, including hosting fees, blog design and my own time, there are many ways in which I am compensated. Don’t get me wrong – I love blogging, but this is also a way to provide income.
My Opinion and My Integrity
I will never promote something, even if I am offered compensation for that promotion, if I don’t feel it is worth your time, energy, or money. (I’ve quit jobs because I didn’t feel I could recommend the person who ran it or services they provided – this is a big one for me.)
I will never knowingly lie or mislead you in order to make money. If I write it, it’s because I believe it’s true. If I don’t have readers, then what’s the point of having this blog? My readers are important to me, and so is my character.
As a general rule, I do not do paid product reviews. If I ever do, I will disclose that I received the item in question for free (and from whom). My opinions are my own, and I’ll tell you truthfully if I like it or not. If I don’t disclose that it was given in exchange for a review, it’s because it’s an item I purchased myself and I love it enough to tell you about it and recommend it. (See Opinion & Integrity section, above.)
Currently I don’t feature any sponsored content on my site. However, it is possible that I may accept an offer from a company that approaches me and offers to underwrite a post in order to reach my audience. These posts are written solely by me on a subject or topic selected by me, but agreed upon by the company I am working with. These posts represent my own honest opinion and are not reviewed or edited by the company prior to publication. I will only work with companies whose values align with those represented on this blog, and I will only write content that I think would be of genuine interest to my readers. Sponsored content/underwritten posts will always be clearly disclosed as such.
One source of revenue for The Busy Creative are commissions I make off from sales or leads generated through affiliate linking.
I will never link to something just because it is an affiliate link. I often link to things that aren’t an affiliate, and I don’t get paid for them – just because I like them.
Currently, I frequently link to the following sites using affiliate links:
Please be aware that clicking on an affiliate link will be earning me a commission.
